Frequently Asked Questions
What do United Methodists believe?
As a part of the worldwide United Methodist Church family, we follow a set of Bible-based, God inspired beliefs set forth by our denomination. To learn more about our beliefs, CLICK HERE.
Where should I park? Is there handicapped parking available?
We are located in Lexington on Hwy 378/Sunset Boulevard next to the Target/Best Buy shopping center. We have plenty of parking in front of the church and along the side. Handicap accessible parking is available, close to the handicap entrance on the side of the church. The handicap parking is the last 2 spaces on the front row of the church parking, closest to the handicap ramped sidewalk.
What should I expect?
A traditional worship service is offered on Sundays at 10:00 am in the sanctuary. During this service, we worship our Lord in a traditional United Methodist format which includes music, children’s time, recitation of historic creeds, a message based on scripture, and praying, including the Lord’s Prayer. We are following the CDC guidelines of social distancing, face coverings, hand sanitizing, and disinfection of the church building. Our sanctuary also has 2 ALEN air filtration units using HEPA filters to keep filtered air circulating.
Do you have Holy Communion?
We celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of the month. We invite all to partake of the bread and grape juice with us. As we say in our Invitation to the Table, “Christ our Lord invites to his table all who love him, who earnestly repent of their sin, and seek to be at peace with one another.” If you can say you do or have done these three things, you are welcome to receive communion.
Is there an online service?
We also have an online worship service on our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/faithumclexington. The livestream service premieres at 10:00 AM on Sundays and can be viewed at any time.
What should I wear?
Come dressed as you are comfortable to worship. Our congregation wears anything from jeans and nice tops/shirts to suits and dresses.
Is there a Nursery?
Nursery is available during worship; children are also welcome in the service. We provide an activity bag to help children in the service who may have shorter attention spans.
Is there Sunday School?
We don’t have Sunday School at present. We offer opportunities for Christian learning through several bible studies and our weekly youth group meetings.
