Extravagant Generosity

Extravagant GenerosityThe air is getting a little cooler, the days are getting shorter, leaves are getting ready to start changing and falling to the ground. These signs point to the season of fall that is just around the corner. I love this time of year! Not only is it the time for college football, cooler temperatures and pumpkins and apples, in the church calendar, fall is the time for stewardship. It is the time when we start looking at a new year before us and praying for God’s leading of how we might be called to serve and give in the coming months.  This month, we begin a new worship series called Extravagant Generosity: The Heart of Giving. This series is written by United Methodist Bishop, Robert Schnase, and is an excellent study of why we give and how we give faithfully and generously. Giving and serving God should never come from a spirit of guilt or obligation, but should always first flow from our hearts. We serve, we give, we support our church because we love God with our hearts.  Join us on Sunday mornings in October as we study what it means to practice Extravagant Generosity as God’s people. We will begin on Sunday, October 4 – with Stewardship Consecration Sunday on Sunday, October 25. You will receive a letter in the mail with more information about stewardship, including a financial giving pledge card as well as an opportunity to sign up to serve your church with your time and talents.

Throughout September we studied the book of James and discussed what it means to put our faith into action. Stewardship is the perfect time to do just that. Let’s pray for one another and for Faith Church as we share this journey of letting go of the world’s grasp and trusting God with everything we have. See you Sunday!

God bless, Mandy

Faith_logo_Symbol_CMYK*One more thing, we have a new logo! Thanks to David Giles of Giles Creative Group in Atlanta, GA, Faith Church has been given a new logo. David has been a friend for many years and he approached me recently asking how he might support our church. While this gift is free to us, David is looking for more graphic design work. If you or someone you know is looking for a graphic designer, please consider David (gilescreative.com). Our new logo image represents our shared journey of Faith. The colors used represent growth and new life that comes through Christ. May we continue to move forward together on the path of discipleship – seeking God’s new way for our lives, our church – and our world.
